We are excited to contribute to the GenOMICC study which continues to produce important knowledge on the genetic profile which predisposes patients to severe respiratory infection. In Liverpool we have been recruiting into GenOMICC throughout the pandemic.
It is great to see the results published, which show a strong association between certain genes and risk for severe COVID-19. With the project expanding beyond the pandemic to explore genomic associations in patients suffering from non-COVID respiratory infections and sepsis an even wider impact, including novel treatment options, will be generated.
Research-nurse led recruitment at our site is well supported by the GenOMICC study team and can be performed alongside a busy clinical routine.
