The Nigerian arm of the global GenoMICC project comprises of a multi-institutional, multidisciplinary team from the Redeemer’s University Nigeria, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti and the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital. Our dynamic team consists of intensivists, physicians, scientists, administrators and data analysts. The GenoMICC project intends to identify genetic determinants and predictors of severity and death among critically ill patients with sepsis. This project is significant to Nigeria and Africa, as it provides profound opportunity to contribute Nigerian and by extension African genetic data to rare global repository of critically-ill patient genetic data and with the attendant future benefits.
